Our least experienced sprayer has 10 years and thousands of hours. In Canada a two-day course makes you a professional.

Open cell hasn't got the vapour resistance for a Manitoba winter. We spray 2 lb closed cell — air barrier, moisture control, R-6 an inch.

Foam is two chemicals mixed 1:1. Sensors watch the mix in real time and shut the machine down if it goes off. On every rig we run.
Misapplied foam is hard and expensive to fix. The installer watching the gun is not enough.
Spray foam is two liquids that have to mix 1:1. Get the ratio wrong and the foam can look fine and still be wrong. Graco field-tested the sensors and found foam more than 15% off ratio that still looked good to veteran sprayers.
Inline sensors watch the mix in real time and shut the machine down if it goes off. We run Ratio-Assurance on every machine. Job data goes to the cloud. We can send a report that includes ratio — proof the job was sprayed to spec.

John Maendel started insulating walk-in freezers in the Oak Bluff colony kitchen. The company is still family-run.
John was a builder and carpenter on the Oak Bluff Hutterite Colony near Morris. In 1978, while working on the colony kitchen, a brother suggested a then-new spray foam product for the walk-in freezers. John bought the equipment in the States, learned to use it, and kept spraying.
Red River Spray-On still works out of Winnipeg and a shop on Hwy 212 near Oak Bank. Short version of a story the Winnipeg Free Press ran in October 2012.
